Until now, Wi-Fi hotspot users wanting to make printouts of their documents faced unpleasant technical hurdles and privacy concerns.
Users may have to download and install specific printer drivers, or figure out
how to have their computer scan for a specific printer on the network, or
they may be required to transfer their document to a server somewhere on
the internet and then retrieve it with a numeric code.
Some hotspots have their users move file on a USB thumb drive to a shared
computer with a printer attached, and some have users email their documents
to a hotspot staff member who prints the document.
In such situations, not only do the wireless users face time-consuming extra
efforts that they aren't expecting, but additionally the hotspot staff themselves
have to be ready and able to provide answers to the technical queries of users
who only want to print something quickly and easily as they normally expect.
